Get Involved
There are loads of ways in which you can help the museum. You could volunteer and help out in a range of activities, you could join the Friends of MEAL or you could make a donation to help us develop the museum.
Volunteering
We are always looking for new volunteers as there are so many different activities which help run the museum :
- If you like the outdoors you consider tending our farm and small animals or you could take part in our landscape conservation work on the museum’s 75 acre estate.
- If you are interested in history or museums you could turn your hand to research or a more "hands-on" role in helping us catalogue or conserve our collection of 40,000 objects.
- If you have even the slightest knowledge of engineering you could join our ‘steam team’ and help us look after our 19th century traction engines.
- If you like meeting the public, we are always in need of guides to show off our fabulous collections of historic buildings. We're also grateful for help in running events on site which includes stewarding during traditional music day or working behind the bar during the Beer Festival.
If you would like to join our band of volunteers please contact Paul Palmer, volunteer co-ordinator on 01449 612229 or via the contact form.
Become a season ticket holder
If you are a regular visitor to the museum then the MEAL season ticket offers great value as you get unlimited access to the museum during the open season (March to October) and partial access during the winter and regular updates by email of forthcoming events and activities.
The MEAL ticket does not apply to Bonfire Night celebrations or special pre-booked events such as theatre or music performances.
