Gypsy Arts Festival
In 2006 and 2007 the museum held its Gypsy Arts Festival. Organised with promoters Hungry Arts the event brought musicians and artists from all over Europe. The event showcased the music, dance, song and even cooking of Romani People. Performers Included Slovenian band Terrafolk, Kal from Serbia and the Jaipur a marching band from Rajastan.
Visitors to the festivals were able to have a go at Flamenco dancing from Spain and step dancing from Suffolk. In 2006 there was a small exhibition from Artist of Romany decent Delaine LeBas who has since gone on to exhibit at the Venice Biennale.
Aside from the festival the museum held a number of schools days where students were able to find out about gypsy life cooking on an open fire to living in a horse drawn wagon. There is also a loans box on gypsy life which can be borrowed by schools for use in the classroom.
