Museum of East Anglian Life
Thursday 19th December sees the visit of The Magic Lantern Society for a taste of a Victorian Christmas with our ‘Christmas Magic Lantern Evening’
Ever wondered how the Victorians entertained themselves before the days of television, multiplex cinemas and social media? You’re cordially invited to come and spend an evening of magical delight with the moving extravaganza that will astound and amaze you before your very eyes!
“The Magic lantern was the forerunner of the modern slide projector and was part of the marvellous world of optical projection and stands alongside the Camera Obscura, Shadow Shows and the Magic Mirror. Like them the Magic Lantern has been used to educate, entertain and mystify audiences for hundreds of years”.
This is a unique opportunity to savour a source of Victorian entertainment through a collection of original slides of various Christmas themes including some on East Anglia. The evening will be filled with awe and wonder as a spectacle of colours; sound and merriment take us back to an age of inspiration.
The evening starts at 7:30pm and tickets are £6 including festive refreshments and are available from the Stowmarket Tourist Information Centre.
