Normal admission adults; Kids, Members and Friends of the Museum go free!
The Museum celebrates its 50th Birthday this July with a party for everyone to enjoy.
Come as your favourite historical character. With adult and child categories, we'll be judging the fancy dress at 1.30pm.
Bake us a birthday cake?
With categories for adults and children, we want to see your greatest cake creations inspired by the museum! (Cakes need to be ready for judging in the marquee by 2pm.) Our official cake will be cut by the Mayor of Stowmarket, Dave Muller, at 2pm.
A bit of brass
We are delighted that we will be joined by not one, not two, but three brass bands! There will be performances at 12pm and 3pm from Orchestre de Cuivres d’Amiens, joined by members of Castleton Brass and Mid Suffolk Brass.
Games and stalls
From splat-the-rat to a human fruit machine, a coconut shy to chicken chucking, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Face-painting and a bouncy castle will appeal to the smallest among us.
Behind-the-scenes at the museum
We will be running two special tours of the Abbot's Hall attic at 1.30pm and 3.30pm - a haunting space visitors seldom see. There will also be opportunities to meet the museum's animals, including Taff the sheepdog puppy.
Tug of war
Teams of four can compete to win the title of Museum's Strongest (Wo)Men! Heats take place at 1.30pm with the final at 2.30pm.
With Jolly Hog supplying a delicious hog roast, and cakes and drinks on sale, there will be plenty to keep your stomach occupied as well.
